Here I was 1200km north of Perth in a remote Western Australian town in ideal conditions now to film and the Coral Spawn due in abit over a week. Then the record button on my Amphibico Phenom became very hard to use. It seemed to be hard from the very first day I got the housing but over time it got worse.

What does a guy do? Well he could send it over to Sea Optics in South Australia lets see now, 1200km to Perth then another 2800km to South Australia then how long would it be there for?

So I sent Mr Amphibico (Ron Hand) an email and not only did he personally respond to my problem he Fed Ex me over a brand new right handle for my housing. Now I know it should of not stuffed up in the first place but things happen and here I am 1 week later with the housing fixed in remote Western Australia. Not sure how my warranty stands now but I'm off to film the Coral Spawn.

It took me about 1 hour to replace the hand piece and was quite straight forward. Filled the bath up and did an empty test. So far so good, with all controls working like they should and that record trigger button has never been better to use...........

Thankyou Amphibico.

PS: I have put through about 70 tapes with the housing so it's done quite abit of work.

Before the operation.

The new right hand piece

Take out the bottom screws ( that's wipeable calcium stains, fresh water here is real bad )

Undo the nut ( thats a tiny remote that allows me another way to activate record with the flip control.)

Pull the plugs out of the circuit board

Remove the hand piece

Vary zoom wheel

A Hole

New hand piece ready to go in

Clean the hole

Hand piece in position

Put the circuit board and nut back on, plug the wires back in
